Open Hearth Cooking Rescheduled for March 6

We were excited to get together with all of you for our annual open-hearth cooking demonstration this Sunday. But after considering this weekend's forecast, we have rescheduled for March 6th. We hope you can make it then, and we'll get more information out on that soon.

The Country Store, however, will be open on both Saturday and Sunday (conditions permitting) for regular weekend hours, 12 to 5. Please check our Facebook page and the sign just outside of Durand-Hedden (523 Ridgewood Road, Maplewood) for the latest details.

Dragonflies and Damselflies of N.J.

Notice how dragonflies often visit water, whether ponds, lakes or rivers, even bird baths in the summer? Ever-fascinating, they are voracious predators as larvae, in freshwater habitats, and as adults, where they consume flies and other insects. Here in NJ we have an abundance of dragonfly and damselfly species, and Dr. Jessica Ware, a professor of evolutionary biology at Rutgers Newark, will lead us on a journey to learn about their amazing life histories and where to find them across the Garden State.
