Head to the Durand-Hedden House with your family for a fun, old-fashioned prelude to the holidays. There will be vintage decorations to see and a captivating display of inventive entries to the 2013 Durand-Hedden Gingerbread House Competition to explore. (Interested in being a contestant? Enter now. Walk-in Entries are welcome on Saturday, December 7 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.). Don’t forget to bring your camera to catch a photo of your children with our real live “Victorian Santa.”

Out in the carriage house the Country Store will open up its coffers for a “super discounted sale” of historic- themed treasures: early American children’s games and toys, facsimile documents, quill pens and ink, historic cook books, cookie molds, tin lanterns, hand blown blue birds, reproductive decorative items and ceramics, and more. The hard- to-find original Doors of Maplewood poster and Smile, the history of Olympic Park, will also be available. No need to go to the mall! Find inexpensive, unique gifts for family, friends, teachers while benefitting the Durand-Hedden House.
